The “Peanuts” cartoon strips often tell the message of the Gospel in a different way than we typically hear it.  The celebration of the Resurrection of Jesus is behind us as we start the summer season of the year.  It is pretty easy, as we get into the routine of summer to lose sight of the meaning of the resurrection of Christ in everyday life.

But one thing is certain-our problems, our hurts, our loneliness, and whatever other things trouble us do not stop just because summer is here.  In fact sometimes they intensify during the summer.  Thinking of summer and the baseball season one thinks of Charlie Brown’s baseball team.  Who knows how many games they have lost and have yet to win a single game?

We all want to win the ball game, at least once in a while.  Don’t we get tired of feeling like we are always losing?  That is why the Resurrection of Jesus Christ is so important to us.  A proper understanding of the Resurrection makes even grief become good.  Do you want to transform “losing another one” into winning?  Remember the Resurrection of Jesus!

Peter tells us: “Blessed be the God and Father of Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead”(1 Peter 1:3-9)

Jesus took all our sins upon Himself on the cross and left them in the tomb when He rose from the dead.  We are “freed” from those sins and given new life because of the Resurrection.  That turns “losing” into “winning”.

Don’t forget the Resurrection in the business of summer.  Even if you lose all your ball games, Jesus still won the “big one” for you!
